YEAH!!!
Keep on charging along!
And while we want to be normally functioning people/ladies...it makes a HUGE difference when we're back to functioning full-on as a MOM! Couldn't agree with you more!
Over my first-ever 1 year bump (FINALLY!) after the 7 hip surgeries...and preparing for my daughter's 1st hip surgery next month (she's 12). Keep her in your thoughts/prayers!

I feel the same as you!
Not sure if you're on facebook, but there's now a Facebook group in addition to the yahoo group for support. Another "Hippy" created a special facebook type page for the same reason. YAH, Hippies of the world unite!
Great to hear you're doing well. I have hit the 6 month mark and feel great, too! Any plans to do your other hip?

That is such wonderful news when I red a blog post like yours. I am looking forward to the day when I can say the same. I am just at the beginning. I have my consultation with Dr. Millis on March 4 at 1130. With and MRI at 845. A lot of people think I am probably nuts for traveling from Kansas to see him but the blogs I am following only have ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL things to say about him. And to me that is what I want. My hubby and I are flying to Boston early from KS 6 am. But we do plan get a little sight seeing in. Then we are flying back Thurs. I am looking forward to this appt.
I also was inspired by blogs that I started one also.

It helps me to express how I am felling with a little extra about the kids (that is more laughs).
Enjoy the updates!
I also went to Dr. Millis last Fall 2008. I was beyond repair. I think he was more upset than me when he told me that I needed a LTHR and he couldn't in good faith do a PAO on me. He even kept in touch with through my THR process at Mass General with Dr. Burke. The main reason I was not a candidate for PAO was that I had had a scope done which made my hip worse! I then read that scopes in people with CHD have poor outcomes. So.........why are they still doing them????? Maybe I wouldn't have a titanium hip right now. LOL. Well....I had my LTHR in June 2009 and I am now pain-free. However, skiing and tennis are out of the question :( I am just happy to be walking with my 4 kids again anywhere we want to go. I am just thankful for that. Where are you from? You are lucky to have found Millis. I live in Mass.....but I read you flew to Boston. Anyways, glad to read some of your story...but haven't had a chance to read all of it.
Lulu (I think you are on hipchicks too?)

Hi, I just came across your blog and am inspired by the success you are having after your RPAO. I am 29 and am scheduled to have my RPAO on 5/14/2010 with Dr. Millis. I have also been a distance runner since I was 13 years old. One of my biggest concerns is my ability to return to running after all of this is over. My biggest fear is that I will be less active after the surgery. I see that you have been able to return to running! I am both excited and very nervous, it really helps to see others doing so well after they have the surgery! Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I was dx with acetabular dysplasia when I was 28 years old. 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant. The surgeon at that time suggested a consultation with a surgeon in Cleveland named Dr. Rodger Wilber. During my pregnancy the right hip pain disappeared...or so I thought. Now my baby girl is 6 months old and the hip pain is back. Dr Wilber worked with Jeffry Mast MD and from what I can tell he appears to be the best PAO surgeon in the state of Ohio, however, all of you girls keep raving about Dr. Millis. Do you know how many PAO surgeries he performs each year. My surgery has been scheduled for May 26th and I went ahead an emailed Dr. Millis to see how long it would take to have surgery perform the surgery. I had one question for the ladies that have already had the surgery. I am currently nursing and I was wondering if I should start to wean my little girl or do you thing I should cont to nurse?
So good to hear your updates. I'm so glad you are doing well!

I am 20 years old and heading to Salt Lake City on 5/11/2010 for my LPAO. I was diagnosed about 8 months ago but I am in nursing school so I was not able to do the procedure done until this May. I have been so nervous and thinking about every little detail about the surgery and surgeries in general. Your blog has been very helpful in easing many of my concerns. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Hello, I just came across your blog as well. I am actually having this procedure done on my right hip a week from today. I have had so many questions and have been very nervous, so finding your blog really helped answer some of those. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Just checking out your blog from hipwomen and curious if you have any pain in your left hip? I'm assuming you've only had a RPAO. It seems uncommon to not have to do both. I had RPAO in January and don't have a lot of pain on the left side but do have intermittent pains that I'm sure time will tell if/when I need to get the PAO done on that side too.
I hope everyone on this post is well...and pain free!
My left hip is still good....hopefully no PAO anytime soon. My right hip was much worse than the left... and again...please feel free to email me with any questions!
and again....LOVE Dr Millis!!! lbmcdo@aol.com

Thank you sooo much for making this blog and sharing everything you've been through. I just scheduled my PAO last week and knowing that there are other people out there that have gone through the same thing that I've been going through helps so much. You've given me a lot of hope. I'm glad everything has turned out so great for you!

Hi, I'm 29 diagnosed with Hip Displasia and a torn labrum, not sure i want just one doctors opinion. Would Dr. Millis have a recommendation for good doctors in Northern CA? I'm in so much pain and feel 90 years old. Also trying to conceive at the same time, and that is definitely posing problems with MRI, and surgery. I'm worried that waiting till after I have kids to have surgery, is just going to wear down my hip and make it worse.
Thanks so much! I just got diagnosed officially today-dysplasia with a torn labrum-- I am 28 as well!!! I am a big time runner (marathons and triathlons) so this is a huge disappointment and it's been a rough day. I am in LA so I'm lucky cause we have Dr. Matta here who seems to be another "it guy" so going to see him as soon as I can but reading your blog makes me feel soo much more aware and ready for what's to come. It looks like I will need both hips done so we will see how it goes! Hopefully I will be back to running marathons when it's all done :)
